What is Phytoplankton?
Phytoplankton is also known as microalgae, are tiny organisms that are found in bodies of water all over the world. They are the base of the marine food chain and are responsible for producing more than half of the oxygen we breathe. Despite their small size, phytoplankton have a huge impact on the health of our planet, and their benefits extend far beyond just producing oxygen.
The role of phytoplankton
In the food chain, Phytoplankton are at the base of the marine food chain, meaning that they are eaten by a wide range of larger organisms, including fish, whales, and even some seabirds. They are also an important food source for zooplankton, which are small animals that float in the water column. Zooplankton are then eaten by larger animals, and the food chain continues.
Phytoplankton are also responsible for producing a large portion of the world’s seafood. Many species of fish, shellfish, and other marine animals feed on phytoplankton, making it an essential part of their diet. Without phytoplankton, many species of marine life would struggle to survive, and the entire marine ecosystem would suffer.
pHYTOPLANKTONS ROLL IN THE CARBON CYCLE
Phytoplankton play an important role in the carbon cycle, which is the process by which carbon is exchanged between the atmosphere, the ocean, and the land. Phytoplankton capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and use it to produce organic matter through photosynthesis. When they die, the carbon they contain sinks to the bottom of the ocean, where it is stored in sediment.
This process, known as the biological pump, plays a crucial role in regulating the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. By capturing carbon, phytoplankton help to mitigate the effects of climate change, as excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is one of the main drivers of global warming.
Health benefits of phytoplankton
Boosts Energy and Stamina
Phytoplankton is a rich source of chlorophyll, a pigment that helps plants to absorb energy from sunlight. Consuming phytoplankton can help increase your energy levels and endurance, enabling you to perform better in your daily activities.
Improves Cognitive Function
Phytoplankton is also a potent source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for optimal brain function. These fatty acids can help improve cognitive function, memory, and mood.
Phytoplankton contains high levels of antioxidants, including carotenoids and superoxide dismutase, which help to protect the body against free radical damage. This helps to strengthen your immune system and reduce your risk of chronic diseases.
Supports Healthy Skin
The antioxidants in phytoplankton also help to protect the skin against damage from UV radiation, pollution, and other environmental stressors. This can help to keep your skin looking young, healthy, and radiant.
About Karen for Good health and the karen project
I am pleased to announce this blog post is sponsored by Karen for Good Health. Who is Karen you ask?
Karen Hunter was a nurse and team leader at Maple ridge hospital who sadly has passed away. The Karen project believes that Karen’s passing at 46 could have been prevented by phytoplankton.
In fact, a lot of the hospital beds could be opened up through improved health via phytoplankton. The Karen projects mission is to get everyone to try phytoplankton at least once and see the benefits themselves. After all, the proof is in the pudding!
Another factor I love about the Karen for Good Health is they cultivate their own phytoplankton, not taking supply from the environment and helping with the carbon cycle and climate change! They provide a variety of products from powders to tablets you can take orally or add to smoothies!

etc., you spend your S.O.D credits. Everyone’s supply is different, which is why
some people age differently. If you want to maintain your youth, this is where it
Karen discovered the most concentrated pure form of Super Oxide Dismutase on
the planet, and it is the first time you can fill your S.O.D supply back up!! This will
slow down your aging on the outside, but a bonus is that this also works on your
organs on the inside of your body.
